The weekend attire of the city nobility. The woman is dressed in a flowing dress trimmed with silver fringe. She wears a velvet kalfak decorated with beads, over which a silk scarf is tied. Her feet are adorned with beaded shoes. The man wears a Bukhara chapan with longitudinal slits on the sleeves. He also wears a fez on his head and a colored turban is tied over it. His feet are clad in soft morocco turn boots and leather galoshes (kaushi).
The traditional clothing of the Tatars, as it developed in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, represents a unique and distinctive aspect of their material culture.
Based on materials collected through long-term observation, the artist L.L. Speranskaya graphically recreated the costume of Tatars in her artwork.
