The monograph analyzes the causes, circumstances, forms, scale, and consequences of activities of the Soviet State and Muslim Spiritual Directorates in the period 1944–1965, in the field of Islamic education and enlightenment, based on archival documents, a significant portion of which have been introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
The publication covers issues related to the functioning of madrasas within the USSR and the training of Soviet Muslims at foreign Islamic institutions.
Special attention is given to the publication, distribution, and circulation of the Quran in Arabic and other Muslim texts, as well as to albums, calendars, and magazines. A notable feature of the monograph is its inclusion of documents that have only been declassified in recent years.
