Description

The Soviet posters produced in the republics of the Volga region, Caucasus, and Central Asia during the period between the two world wars are as complex as the time they were created, which was a time of sharp social and cultural transformation and the formation of a new society. These posters represent a significant, but understudied aspect of the history of Soviet visual propaganda. These posters, which had both artistic and advertising functions, as well as informational and agitational functions, took into account the local cultures and national identities. They successfully fulfilled their purpose of attracting attention, stimulating interest, and influencing mass consciousness. The bright and figurative designs of these posters, created using the typical post-revolutionary constructivist style, were the work of professional artists who aimed to create a unique national style.
