Sabantuy in Photographs by Rifkhat Yakupov

All people involved in agriculture celebrated the successful completion of arduous fieldwork, but only the Turkic peoples of the Volga and Ural regions have carried out these rituals for centuries in a largely unchanged form. Sabantuy holds a special significance for the Tatar people. One of its primary functions is to maintain the unity of families, village communities, and society as a whole.

Through the photographs in the "Sabantuy" album, the spirit of the people, their love for their homeland, and the joy of unity can be felt. Each photograph contributes to the overall image of the Tatar people. The camera captures every aspect of the festival, including not only entertaining events such as horse races, running contests, jumping competitions, and wrestling (көрәш), but also certain rituals and ceremonies.
