A solo exhibition by artist Aladdin Garunov, a distinctive voice in contemporary Russian art working at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and object art, brings together around 100 works created from the 1990s to the present day and reveals the key directions of his artistic exploration.
Aladdin Garunov merges the cultural traditions of the North Caucasus with the language of contemporary art, creating works in which archaic cultural codes enter into a dialogue with the materials and aesthetics of industrial modernity. Garunov's works form a rich visual space where carpets and ornaments coexist with concrete and industrial rubber, while established symbols and calligraphic elements combine with everyday objects. This fusion of materials and images is a way of reflecting on cultural memory, spiritual customs, and the universality of artistic language.
The exhibition is structured from an exploration of artist's own identity and the formation of an individual language – to a search for universal cultural images and constants. The final galleries feature the later cycles Total Prayer and Dhikr, in which Garunov's practice gradually takes on the character of a meditative engagement with God.
The exhibition includes works from the collection of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and from private collections, as well as new works created by Aladdin Garunov specifically for this project.
