Abbas Kiarostami's The Wind will Take Us Away – Screening & Discussion

Screening and discussion of Abbas Kiarostami's film as part of the series of events dedicated to Forugh Farrokhzad's book "Second Birth".

"The Wind Will Carry Us" – a film by Abbas Kiarostami, one of the leading figures of the Iranian New Wave. The screening will be introduced and followed by a discussion with film critic Timur Aliev.

Kiarostami, himself a poet, held Forough Farrokhzad's poetry in high esteem. The title The Wind Will Carry Us quotes a line from one of her poems, and two of her poetic texts are featured in the film.

The director and his two assistants travel from Tehran to a Kurdish village to shoot a documentary about local funeral rites. But the expected death is slow to come, and strange phone calls begin to disrupt the director's days.
