Alexander Akilov. Painting

Alexander Akilov. Painting

Alexander Akilov was born in 1951 in Dushanbe. He is a representative of the "seventies" generation of artists, who recognized the significance of tradition in art, while also acknowledging the importance of individual expression.
Central Asia has been portrayed in various ways. Alexander Akilov depicted it as it might have appeared, but no one has yet been able to capture its essence. By adopting the traditions of Russian and European symbolism, as well as the decorative and applied arts of Central Asia, the artist created a unique pictorial and plastic language.
In Alexander Akilov's artwork, the "instant between light and shade" is captured. The swaying, shifting shadows create a mysterious, ethereal "garden of shadows" that seems to exist in a separate world. There is a steady, continuous passage of time, as evidenced by the rhythmic repetition of patterns, the glare of the sun and moon, and the shifting shadows, which evoke associations with past times and people…
The works of the artist reflect on human life and the world, as well as the unfathomable and eternal mystery of existence. They also explore the fleeting and almost illusory nature of our time on earth, and the eternal life that awaits us beyond.
