Galiya Izmaylova, born on February 12, 1923, in Tomsk, Russia, to a Tatar family, left her hometown after her father passed away and moved to Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
In 1941, Galiya began her career as a soloist with the Alisher Navoi State Academic Grand Theatre of Uzbekistan, where she performed leading roles in various productions. She went on numerous tours and became known both within the Soviet Union and internationally for her performances of Uzbek and other Oriental folk dances. Since 1977, Galiya Izmaylova was actively engaged as the principal choreographer for the theater, making a significant contribution to the advancement of Uzbek opera and ballet arts and training dozens of talented individuals, imparting to them the intricacies of dance craft.
