The documentary "Baki Urmanche. The Giant. A Portrait of a Man", is produced to commemorate the 115th anniversary of his birth.
Baki Idrisovich Urmanche (1897–1990), the founder of Tatar fine arts, was the first artist of such large-scale talent in Tatar history. A painter, graphic artist, sculptor, muralist and theater artist, he made an invaluable contribution to the development of various forms of fine arts in Tatarstan. His work largely determined the establishment of Tatar arts in the 1920s and continued to influence its development throughout the latter half of the 20th century.
