The protagonist of the film is a remarkable individual. Yavdat Khasanovich Ilyasov, born in a remote village in Bashkortostan, lived his entire life in Uzbekistan. After completing his seven-year education, Ilyasov went on to become a prolific author of historical novels, poetry, and screenplays during the 1950s-1980s, as well as translating works by other writers into Russian. Many archaeologists and historians credit him with sparking their interest in Central Asian history through his writings.
Yavdat Ilyasov also turned to fantastical stories. At night, as he put his son Dzhangar to sleep, Yavdat Ilyasov would tell him a story about being a man from Mars…
