Garif Basyrov is one of the few artists who created an authentic image of the second half of the twentieth century. His portrait of time, which still could be hardly called the past history, is unmistakably reproduced by means of grotesque, fantasticality and indispensable irony. Today it becomes obvious that for the audience, too young to be his contemporaries or witnesses of his realities, Basyrov’s art is just as clear. It tells a piercing story going beyond the temporal or topographical limits.

The present edition consists of 8 notebooks-volumes, seven of which are devoted to artist’s individual series or series of cycles. A separate biographical notebook includes photos and materials from the family archive, giving the most completepicture of the artist’s life.
