Lev Snegirev. The Way to Yourself. Painting and Graphics

The album was prepared for the exhibition "The Way to Yourself" by Lev Snegirev, 2012.

In his painting and graphic works, the artist expressed himself in various ways. The themes and internal dynamics of his works vary. For painting, Snegirev employed an original mixed technique, combining oil with tempera and sometimes adding tulle or even cement to create texture. Despite being restrained in color and almost monochromatic, his works seem to radiate a mysterious light. Snegirev also produced numerous graphic works, including watercolour and tempera paintings based on full-scale sketches. These works depict simple landscape motifs, such as hilly steppes with narrow strips of roads and rivers, as well as old mausoleums standing alone and seemingly at the edge of the world. The passage of time, the spirituality of the space, and the ringing silence can be clearly felt in these works.
