The collection of Annamukhamed Zaripov, a Moscow artist, art critic, and collector of Russian art of the 20th century, is a significant phenomenon in the modern artistic life of Russia. Experts believe that his collection, which has been created for more than half a century and has more than one thousand exhibits, is the envy of any museum. It includes archaeological finds from Turkmenistan, paintings and graphics, sculptures and decorative and applied arts, mostly by Moscow artists.
This project presents a significant part of the artist's collection – his portraits, created in a variety of styles and movements, and portraying a single individual with extraordinary personality.
“I used to organize exhibitions of my artwork in various regions, but now these exhibitions feature the works of my friends who paint me. Each artist creates a portrait with love, trying to capture my essence, and I am curious about how they perceive me and who they are. My artist friends have been creating portraits of me for a long time — some sculpted, some painted — and now there are over 400 portraits in my collection, including sculptures, bronze medals, batik, and canvas…”
