"Tahiyyat ": Festschrift in Honour of Professor N.N. Dyakov. Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies

The collection of articles dedicated to the Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Nikolai Nikolaevich Dyakov, who has led the Saint Petersburg State University Faculty of Asian and African studies for nearly a quarter of a century, was timed to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the distinguished scholar. The event brought together experts in Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies from Russia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Greece, the UK, Norway, and the United States. 

The diverse range of academic interests and professional connections of the honoree is reflected in both the selection of contributors and the diversity of topics covered in the articles, which delve into various aspects of Middle Eastern and Islamic scholarship.The collection explores the challenges of Islam in the Middle East and beyond, the history of Christian-Muslim relations, Arab ethnography, philosophy, philology, the military affairs of the medieval East, and other aspects of the Middle Eastern region.
