The festive attire of a rural young woman. A calico dress with frills and an apron made from white calico decorated with a frill, beads, and a patterned pair of ichigi (traditional Tatar shoes) with high heels. A calico shawl is also included. The apron and shawl have tambour embroidery.
The traditional clothing of the Tatars, as it developed in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, represents a unique and distinctive aspect of their material culture.
Based on materials collected through long-term observation, the artist L.L. Speranskaya graphically recreated the costume of Tatars in her artwork.
